La Sombra
| A nice campground with a stream running through it. Of the three in
Taos Canyon (the others are Capulin and Las Petacas), this one is the nicest. It is
also the most heavily used.

About the campground:
|
This campground had several people staying for a week or more because it
is a nice one. The campsites are shaded by large trees, making for a
pleasant place to camp. The road is nearby, so road noise may be a
problem.
To the right, Diana is reading a book in campsite 7.
|
A stream runs through the campground. To get to some of the campsites,
you have to ford this stream.
| |
|
Probably the nicest campsites are sites 1 and 12 (they are at either end).
Site 10 has an apple tree growing at it. On 8/11/00, the apples were
not yet ripe. Chokecherries are here as well; I did not check to see if
they were ripe.
We also saw chipmunks and ground squirrels as we wandered the campground.
