Southern maidenhair fern: Adiantum capillus-veneris

The southern maidenhair fern, Adiantum capillus-veneris, is found in moist areas. It's delicate beauty with fronds that look like miniature fans is distinctive. Tilford (1997) notes medicinal uses for a related species. Photographed at Oliver Lee State Park, 2 April 2006.
